History

The Water School was founded in 2010.  Having gone through traditional learning channels many years before for Drinking Water Certification, Steve Christianson developed a new unique new way to train students while in graduate school. Steve developed a hybrid program, utilizing industry experts with futuristic learning techniques, team teaching with his wife Lorraine.

Understanding low passage rates of state exam takers and the Grey Tsunami, the stage was set for the following educational program objectives:

·         Develop a flexible program for students allowing work, life balance.

·         Create one on one instructor student relationships.

·         Utilize technology.

·         Mentor students through T-1, D-1, T-2, D-2 exams in 12 month or less.

·         Achieve over a 90% passage rate on exams.

·         Guarantee student success

·         Create Super Employees through comprehensive soft skill training

·         Assist students in career mentoring

·         Add Waste-Water Program

·         Develop OIT Programs

·         Navigate Employers through Skilled Labor strategic planning

·         Identify supplemental training dollars for employers

Shortly after, Columbia College recruited Steve to both teach and help develop programs for Fresno State and Allen Hancock Colleges. Steve was recognized in 2017 from the State Chancellor’s office for Strong Workforce Star for helping student increase incomes by 161%.

In 2016, Mother Lode Job Training designated the Water School as “an approved Local Training Provider” for 5 counties in the foothills. In 2017, The Fresno Workforce Investment Board, approved the Water School as a local training provider for drinking water. In 2018 Fresno contracted with the Water School to provide Waste-Water instruction through grade 2 testing.

In 2019 the Water School expanded our team to serve the demand for our unique program.
